Every year at this time I sit at home and wrestle with whether to go to the gym or not. Don’t misunderstand what i’m saying. I’m not one of those 2 week resolution types that start strong and fizzle out. They’re all at the gym this morning and I’m proud of them, each and every one of them, but they do make for a crowded gym.
I love this time of year! I love goal setting, new beginnings and seeing people raise a defiant fist to the cold of winter and declare proudly, “I will not wait until spring for new life! New Life starts NOW!” Ok maybe that’s a little over the top but It’s the first week of January so why not get all #hashtag crazy and get started on the #NewYearNewYou.
For the next week I’m going to do a short series of posts on how to make a new you this year.
There are no gimmicks or tricks just some simple tools that people who grow use all the time to become they people they want to be.
John Maxwell was once asked at a conference, “What has been your greatest challenge as a leader?” “Leading me!” He answered.
I’ve always tried to remember that the person I should be most concerned with influencing is myself. Am I becoming the person I want to be, the person God created me to be or have I become a little too comfortable where I am?
Over the next few days I’m going to post some ideas on things you and I can do to create real change in our lives.
These are the same things that helped me lose 45lbs, run my first marathon, develop new habits that are making me more productive and they’re why I’m going to outlast the January crowd at the gym again this year!
Tomorrow’s post is about the dreaded before pic. I know, I know. But trust me. You may not like how things look now, but you’ll love looking back and seeing how far you’ve come.
