I read a post recently by Ed Stetzer on research that states that “less than 20% of churchgoers read the Bible daily”.

I feel like I talk more than a bit about the importance of scripture reading for those who want to grow the faith part of their lives. Truth is, every part of our lives is the faith part of our lives.
Now I meet people all the time who don't realize this yet. They're just discovering that there is a God and they aren’t really sure yet where he fits in their lives.
Actually, following Jesus affects every part of life and makes every part of life better. The more of your life that you allow God to speak into, the more you discover how you were created to live and the more you begin to enjoy life to the full!
For just about my whole life I've been a soccer fan. Last fall I joined a team for the first time in years and started to be a soccer "player" again. I tore a calf muscle, broke some ribs and fell a lot. Obvious punchline: I guess there's a difference between those on the fiend and those in the stands. Faith is like that. It's hard when you're forced to put into practice, even the stuff you thought you believed for "just about your whole life".
I've found that faith works better when you practice it often. When people come to me with an "injury" or when they know something's not quite right in the faith part of their life, It's rarely what they beleive that's the problem. The problem is their practice.
I'll ask them if they've been “Doing the Daily”. Picking up a Bible or downloading the Bible app and making sure they’re spending time every day reading it and then practising doing more of what it says.
If you’re looking for a place to start, there is a fantastic reading plan on YouVersion that will get you through the first 4 books of the New Testament in 90 days. If you have no idea what that means – it means in 90 days you’ll know most of what we know about Jesus. And knowing Jesus changes everything.
No matter how long you’ve been doing “the Sunday thing”, it can’t compare with “doing the daily”. Make reading this ancient and supernatural book, part of your life and you’ll find your life just won’t be the same?
