Do The Daily

I read a post this week by Ed Stetzer on research that states that “less than 20% of churchgoers read the Bible daily”.

At Erin Village, we’ve been talking a lot about the importance of scripture reading for those who want to grow the faith part of their lives.  Every time I say or read that I have a thought that flashes through my mind, “I wish people knew that every part of their lives is the faith part of their lives.”  They don’t.  I meet people all the time who are just discovering that there is a God and really aren’t sure where he fits in their lives.

I can’t say clearly enough that God’s place is in the centre.  Following Christ affects every part of life and makes every part of life better.  The more of your life that you allow God to speak into, the more you discover how you were created to live and the more you begin to enjoy life to the full!

Last week at Erin Village I challenged our community, once again, to “Do the Daily”.  To pick up a Bible or to download the Bible app and make sure you’re spending time every day reading it and then practising doing more of what it says.  If you’re looking for a place to start, there is a fantastic reading plan on YouVersion that will get you through the first 4 books of the New Testament in 90 days.  If you have no idea what that means – it means in 90 days you’ll know most of what we know about Jesus.  And knowing Jesus changes everything.

No matter how long you’ve been doing “the Sunday thing”, it can’t compare with “doing the daily”.  Make reading this ancient and supernatural book, part of your life and you’ll find your life just won’t be the same?
